“I don’t think there has been much sentiment in Congress to extend unemployment beyond 99 weeks, unfortunately,” [Austan Dean Goolsbee (born August 18, 1969), American economist, currently serving as the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers] said. He did not say whether or not the president would support such an extension should Congress pass it. Goolsbee said that he is aware of the plight of the 99ers and finds their situation “really heartbreaking.”
