A colleague--and close friend--advised me to write a blog, noting that writing is "balm for the soul." So I decided to take a stab at it. In here you will find notes and comments on a mind-boggling array of subjects, from retail and small appliances, to books, films and television, to history, science and social commentary. There will be some politics; although I find this a difficult subject to tackle, and my thoughts and opinions on it are anything but clear and pronounced, the various issues we face today are of such import it would be even more difficult to ignore what is happening on that front.
The bottom line: This blog will serve as a platform from which I can tackle any subject on my mind, while at the same time providing me with the creative outlet writers crave. Writers are a strange breed, I will be the first to admit. We spend a good portion of our lives alone in front of a keyboard, our fingers moving, stirring our thoughts, as the words appear on the screen. Then we change those words on the screen until we finally give up.
I'd like to note that "Requiem For An Editor" was not my first choice for the title of this blog; I had three better titles, but, oddly enough, they were already taken. Forgive me if "Requiem" sounds pretentious; pretension was not my aim. What I am trying to get at with that rubric will be the subject of one of my upcoming blogs.
I haven't said anything of consequence or of even remote interest yet; this, I know. I am just getting my feet wet. But to compensate, I pledge that, as I grow into my version of a blogger, I will entertain and intrique you; maybe confuse and anger you on occasion. One thing I hope never to do is bore you.
Take care, friends.
